97% of UK organisations report an AI skills gap, and the people who close it are the ones getting ahead.gov.uk AI Labour Market Survey, 2025
Everyone's using AI now. Few have been trained to use it well.
Most people are picking up AI as they go, guessing, hoping, missing most of what it can do. Real, structured skills turn that into an edge: faster work, better decisions and confidence you can count on. That's what this builds, for you, or your whole team.

Common questions
- Is it really free?
- Learners never pay course fees. Eligible employers potentially pay nothing either, and some contribute a share depending on the apprentice’s age and whether they pay the levy. We confirm your exact position in writing before anything starts.
- Will it take my team away from their work?
- No. It's built around a monthly masterclass and practical AI tasks inside the business, so the learning stays connected to real output.
- Do they need qualifications to start?
- No entry qualifications are needed. You just need to be employed.
- How long does it take?
- Around 14 months, delivered fully remotely, ending in an independent assessment and a recognised qualification.

Check your eligibilityQuestions people ask
Who is the Level 4 AI apprenticeship for?
You need to be employed, aged 16 or over, and have a line manager who can sign off your timesheets. Your employer needs to be happy for you to attend. You also commit to a monthly remote masterclass and to the full 14 month programme.
What does the AI apprenticeship cost?
It depends on the apprentice’s age and whether you pay the apprenticeship levy, and we confirm it in writing before anything starts. Levy payers usually fund it from the levy account they already pay into. Everyone else pays nothing for an apprentice aged 16 to 24, and for one aged 25 or over the government funds 95 per cent, with a levy transfer able to cover the rest. The learner never pays anything.
How long does it take and how is it delivered?
It is the Level 4 Artificial Intelligence and Automation Practitioner apprenticeship, a national standard. It runs for around 14 months, is studied online around your job, and has no entry requirements. It ends with an independent End-Point Assessment.
